Chris "CK" Kovacs was a part of the cast of Murder Metal Mayhem from episode 4 until his death in October 2021. He racked up over 150 episodes during that time, despite battling stage four colon cancer for nine years. At times, he recorded the podcast from a hospital bed. His perseverance was inspiring, and even moved a young fan in Arkansas to reach out and throw CK the horns to express how much she loved him. CK was the metal segment for many classic episodes and always astounded the listeners with his incredible heavy metal knowledge. He would riff without any notes and cover a wide range of metal bands, earning his exalted title of The Great Metal Motherfucker!
As time went on, CK began to do more than the metal segment, and would stay on through the rest of the podcast, adding his classic "Weepy Voiced Killer/WVK" character to the Killer Cage Match, as well as many spots on the hilarious fake commercials the guys do. He loved everything about the podcast and the guys are happy to have given him so much enjoyment in his final years.
Since CK has been gone, many listeners leave comments of appreciation that the guys decided to continue doing the podcast. Now they take turns each week and pick a band or topic to cover in the metal segment. Whoever "has the horns" gets to lead the discussion, and CK is always mentioned as being the inspiration behind it. The intro to the segment continues to speak of the amazing CK and his tremendous contribution to the show.
CK is a big part of the success of Murder Metal Mayhem and he will never be forgotten!
